Content
Introduction
State your research question and how you arrived at it (again).
Begin with a summary of your first interview and what you learned
from it.
Next paragraph explain what you decided to do with your research
question. More interviews? Read publications on your topic?
Newspaper articles?

2

Body of the paper
This is where the information from your research goes.
-If you talked to more people after your first interview, tell
who, when, where, and why you decided to talk to them. Did you
do anything to show your appreciation for their time and help?
– If you chose to research your question where did you find
the publications? How did they help?
You want to include two sides to the opinions about your question.
– You can use the interview as one side and research the opposing
side, or you can use an alternative person interviewed as the
different view. If you talk to several people, try to keep the
numbers equal – although that may not be possible.
Your point is that you wish to learn what other people think and/or
Know about your topic. Then discuss these views in light of your
question.
– How well was your question answered? It’s OK if it’s not well
answered – you may have learned that there are many more
sides to the question than what you first thought. What new sides
have you discovered?
Use headings to help organize topics or points !
– Include all the data from your questions. You can do it in chart
form if that helps condense your data. You may include
transcripts from your interviews as an Appendix. You need to
study your data to see how it relates to your question!
Do Not count transcript pages as part of the 5-10 page paper!!
Conclusion
Restate your research question. Then based on the data from your
research, what is the current answer to your question? The last
paragraph of your paper should summarize what you have learned.
It is good to acknowledge the fact that you have not talked to a
representative sample (statistically speaking) of people. Your
conclusions are therefore based on a small number which could
change if you had access and time to do a “real” study. If you believe
your interviewees are representative – culturally speaking – then you
may have voices that ARE representative of the whole.
Conclude with a newly formed opinion based on the data/info.
Confirmed? Not confirmed? Either way it’s OK – you’ve learned
something!
If you were to do this project again, would you do it the
same way or differently?
References Cited page
All your sources of information that you have called out in the text of
your paper go here, alphabetical order by authors’ last names.

Include your interview (that I will have handed back to you earlier as an
APPENDIX A. You can refer to what a person said in the body of your
paper “see Appendix I, pp.__” – for example.
How to use your references !!
Statements that you make based on information from your research
are important to cite at the end of your first sentence when you introduce a
new idea or topic. –
