It is a type of abuse that involves controlling of the individual and making threats to them. It can lead to mental illness like post-traumatic stress disorder when not controlled early.
- Sexual abuse
It is a type of abuse that occurs from unwanted sex, and touching of the individual without consent. It can lead to sexually transmitted diseases and trauma. Individuals that suffer from this form of abuse in the nursing home are those that are unable to explain themselves, and some are disabled.
- Neglect
It is a deliberate form of abuse meant to cause harm to an individual. It can be in many forms which may include: medical errors, poor hygiene, ignoring complains from the residents, not attending to the residents, malnutrition e.t.c
- Financial abuse
It is a type of abuse where individuals are manipulated and their finances taken from them. It can occur in many forms like: changing the will of the individual, stealing of cash and their cards. This type of abuse causes stress to the individual because most of the money the individuals save it up for future use.
